Our popular Sit and Sew program was created by local parents who wanted to get together and learn how to sew clothes for themselves and their children.
A team of enthusiastic volunteers helps teach the sewing classes in our community room. From this small beginning the program has blossomed.
Many of the women learning to sew are new arrivals to Australia. They came up with the idea to include conversational English classes in the Sit and Sew sessions. Now they’re learning English in the sessions as well as sewing skills.
The Sit and Sew program is held twice a week in the College’s community room. If you would like to join the group, volunteer to help, or donate materials please contact the College’s volunteer co-ordinator on 8765 0111.
